【About the Aircraft】
The Viggen is a fighter aircraft developed independently by Sweden and operated from 1971 to 2005. Development started in 1961 as a successor to the J35 Draken. The first flight was successful in 1967, and entered service in 1971. The Viggen equipped with a canard on the left and right of the air intake, and adopted a delta wing as main wing. The engine is equipped with one RM8B which is improved by Sweden from American-made JT8D. The Viggen performed the maximum speed Mach 2.1, and was proud of its STOL performance that can take off and land on short runways. The strike fighter AJ37 was first deployed, and in 1979, all-weather fighter-interceptor aircraft JA37 variant was introduced. By strengthening the engine thrust and improving the fire control system, it became a more suitable aircraft for air-to-air combat, and it was active as the final variant of Viggen.
